MHT14 – Forensic Mental Health Training & Risk Management Training
This workshop is designed as a solutions for organisations that support patients, service users, residents and tenants with forensic mental health histories.
The training offers a detailed overview of diagnostic factors and behavioural vulnerabilities common to patients with forensic histories. The training supports employers and organisations to better-manage staff safety, recognise emerging risk scenarios, recognise a range of risk factors and influence safer decision making to improve lone working safety.
The following areas are key to this training.
- Understanding the Antisocial / Dissocial, Psychopathic, Narcissistic and Borderline / EUPD personality disorder phenotypes.
- Understanding the emotional and psychological / behavioural vulnerabilities of these patients.
- Understanding risk related factors including comorbid psychiatric illness, patient history and complex vulnerabilities common in splitting, impulsivity, fixated grievances and obliteration of envy psychology.
- HCR-20 and Social Circumstances reports – Improving risk assessments, risk management and safeguarding of staff and patient.
- Improving lone working and enforcement strategies.
- Escalating concerns to statutory services including CMHT / Crisis Team, AMHP service
- Case studies are included in this training to support learning. This training maintains a patient-centred approach and avoids pejorative / stigmatising language.
